The
following links have served me well since becoming a VA and I believe
the will serve you well, too.

This
is an amazing site and a must for anyone learning website design.
With a ready with and encouraging style, Joe Burns' tutorials on
everything from basic html code to more complex javascripts are
wonderful. Even if you do not intend to make website design part
of your VA practice, this site is worth exploring, because it is
my belief that if you have a website you will benefit from having
a basic knowledge of html. And this is the best place to get it!

Allen is so original and so talented. Visit her site and look over
her 'Samples'. There are great articles about and for Virtual Assistants.
You should also take note of her unique writing style, as well as
her advice about writing. Her website reflects her personality and
a deftness that expresses a serious nature that doesn't clash with
a quirky sense of humor. I love the bubbles that go pop!

Vorfeld's site is awesome! She is amazing. An experienced writer,
journalist and grammarian, she has developed a site that explores
everything you need to know to be a good writer. She has several
websites, but all are accessible through the above URL. It is not
only that she has a great website with so much to offer the virtual
assistant. She also takes an interest in the success and needs of
those legions of us who have turned to her for advice and help.
Don't miss the opportunity to subscribe to her free newsletter.
There is even a free template to help you create your own e-zine.

The
hosting service offered by Provirtual Solutions is ideal for me.
Mary Motz is a fellow virtual assistant and the service she provides
is the highest caliber. If you are looking for someone to help you
through the trials of setting up your website and getting it working
properly, Mary Motz provides excellent friendly expertise. http://godaddy.com
I highly recommend GoDaddy for purchasing your domain name(s). I
wish I'd know about them a lot sooner - 'live and learn'! Best prices
by far and now you can by .uk domains as well, which I couldn't
do earlier this year (2003). I have used their web hosting service
and found it adequate and good value, but a bit cumbersome setting
things up. For me it's better to have an ISP that can provide a
more personal service.

The
IVAA has been very very important to my VA practice. It has been
the primary source of encouragement, support and virtual friendship.
Membership in this profession voluntary association could be one
of the most important decisions you make when starting your business.
Have a look at the website and sign up for the free newsletter.
There are so many possibilities that will open up for you. Having
your own business, usually at home can be very lonely and sometimes
intimidating. The IVAA will help you many ways.

This
is an excellent resource for VAs from the UK. The three founders
of the alliance offer lots of expertise and professional wisdom.
The AUKVA is a primary source for listing VA businesses and also
has a good listserve, which allows members to share professional
problems and find answers.

Godaddy
offers the best rates for domain names, including some international
domains, such as the U.K. The procedures are pretty user friendly,
but can be tricky if you buy more than one domain name. The staff
is very helpful if/when you run into snags.
