So You Want to Be a Virtual Assistant, Do You?
by Katherine McCrimmon, Virtual Assistant and Virtual Secretary

Since launching my website over seven years ago, I have received and continue to receive many inquiries asking about becoming a virtual assistant. Some ask for advice, some are looking for work; others have questions about setting up in another country. I would like to share advice and experiences with those of you who visit my website in order to gather information for your own enterprises. With that it mind I have developed some ideas to help get you started.

There are many reasons for deciding to venture out on your own: Some of you are 'tied' to the home with children or elderly parents or lack of transportation. Others of you love the challenge of having your own business or dislike working for someone else. And on the surface, at least, it may seem that with a computer, a printer and an Internet connection, nothing could be easier that setting up a home office!

Listen: Just because you have a computer, a printer and lots of experience in an office, doesn't mean having a home office is right for you. It takes imagination, persistance, determination and hard work. But success is definitely possible and with care and attention to detail, you can soon have a virtual business of your own!
